howabout xfire 2900xt 512mb 512bi, 2x20k=40K practical?

you can sli w/ 7600gt and will not cost you more than 12k.
everything will depend on the card that your gonna sli or xfire.

8800gtx is currently the fastest card out there no question. and

2900xt is comparable to 8800gts 640mb and even faster since the improvement of the catalyst drivers.
and to choose between them the 2900xt is top of the line VC from ATI plus it has advantage on HD movies.

HD2900XT is at this time placed nicely in-between 8800GTS 640 and 8800GTX in terms of performance.

Hm...Good question...

Suggestion: If you have money to burn, and would no settle for second-grade, go for the top of the line 8800 Ultra...
But, if you can't burn that much money, settle for an 8800GTS, which is way cheaper than 2900xt, and is better in some games(although new catalyst drivers give ATi a good lead).

For die-hard AMD(ATi) fanboys, they can have 2900xt in Xfire, which is good enough. They might also have the advantage when phenom comes out and works well.

For Intel aficionados however, go for SLi, and if you have money to burn, go for the SkullTrail chipset...(Quad SLi and 8-core system). It hasn't been released though.

If I had the money? For a single card configuration: Leadtek 8800 Ultra "Leviathan".... For dual-card: 8800 Ultra via SLi...

as you can see, 2900XT beats 8800GTS at a lower resolution.

do you know that 8800ULTRA is the OC version of GTX?
then GTX according to you the fastest card out there.. hmmm.... then OC a GTX is slower compared to stock speed..

are you sure that youre updated? 7600gt is still entry level video card as of now..

Seems this is the only website that you are basing all your benchmarks. There are other websites out there that are legitamete review websites.
And I tell you almost all of the hardware review websites in google shows x2900xt is the better card over 8800gts 640mb.

The website doesnt even show the specs and the driver versions. Toms hardware is indeed legit review but they are using the old drivers catalyst drivers. Maybe your thinking this is a real time benchmark? THis is based on old benchies.

i dont think they're biased, they reviewed those cards way back then and way back then new updates on catalyst is on the process.

Tomshardware is not biased. It just so happened that at the time of testing, the available drivers are still young for ATi...
and currently, they even said that 2900xt is on par with 8800GTS(price and value).

And oh, tomshardware shows the test specs, just click on the image, and you'll get specs for each test system.
