"A group of Filipino-Americans are demanding an apology from American television network ABC and the series Desperate Housewives for including a derogatory reference to Philippine medical schools in the script of their season premiere show Sept. 30.

In the said show, Susan (played by Teri Hatcher) who is one of the main characters, was consulting a gynecologist who said she might be hitting menopause. She replied “Can I just check those diplomas because I just want to make sure that they are not from some med school in the Philippines.”

^^Maski na bai, whether it's the result of the nursing leakage issue or not, di unta angayan because they're not only hitting the credibility (that if it's really the result of the leakage issue) but the dignity of Filipinos as well. Take note that by saying "med schools in the Philippines", di lang med schools in the Philippines ang affected ani but the whole Filipino community. Kung media man ang sad-an, then diha ra unta kutob, di na nila sakyan. If it was intended for humor, too bad, it didn't sound funny, it's insulting. For whoever is responsible for such a line, I presume he/she is a professional. Yet where's the courtesy?

Ana kagamay ilang tan-aw sa mga Pinoy? Haven't they realized kung unsa kadakong tabang ang nahatag sa Pilipinas sa America?

Hey, that was very insulting. I'm a doctor, and I plan on taking the USMLE. And tell you what, my colleagues there are doing good and even better than their American counterparts! Oh, and to pass the USMLE, a Filipino must get an average of 80 on all 3 steps, while an American must get a 70 to pass! tsk tsk tsk

i'm a patriot but i am also a realist. though it is wrong to make such a sweeping statement, who can blame them?

as one who commented on you tube said,

    • it is just so trivial

    • as if we don't make similar jokes on Americans all the time

    • we are paranoid, oversensitive whiners who has to rant about everything

    • humor can be dangerous if one lacks it

it's not like when Tommy Hilfiger said that he did not make his clothes for Filipinos, now that's another thing. well for me, if that dyslexic homosexual does not like me wearing his creation then to hell with him.

mga amao man ang mga kano. Nagtuo sila nga sila ang sikat. Take a look at their weak currency weak economy. And they are very respected doctors.
