I think the biggest pull towards corruption that a Filipino politician experiences comes from the people around him: family, relatives, friends, and the colleagues that run the bureaucracy. When in office, he/she realizes immediately that corruption is "standard operating procedure". He gets convinced right and left that everyone is doing it and if he's not doing it he's losing the "precious" chance for which those expensive elections won him.
An honest politician in the Philippines therefore is an oxym-o-r-o-n and an odd ball who stands no chance against a self-reinforcing ecosystem. So, in the survival-of-the-fittest world of politics, those who steal the most gets to have the best lawyers.
mao nga someone should step up and has the capacity to discipline not only the politicians, but also the citizens of this Republic..
corruption is already a cancer that you have to kill all of the cancer cells to stop it.
the link that i attached is a good read that will give you an idea on why corruption is hard to stop.
