The problems with Grab Taxi

I never had problems with GrabTaxi either. In fact happy kaayo ko sa ilang service. Usahay lisod lang gyud labi na og sakay and if imong place lisod abton or sudlunon or kanang way sikat nga landmark ba. But other than that, okay gyud kaayo ang GrabTaxi, most of the drivers are really friendly. One time ga dali ko padung ko kuha sa akong anak, wala nalang ko ga promo code kay nakalimot nako ni ask ang driver ngano wala daw ko ga promo code, sayang sad kuno.

I was under the impression that GrabTaxi was made for the ease and convenience of the commuters. On the contrary, it seems like Taxi Drivers are benefiting more than the commuters from this scheme. I once rode a non-GT driver and he told me that during 'sakay' hours, the regular taxi lanes in SM are almost deserted, since majority of taxi drivers, who are using the GT app, are hiding along nearby streets so they can 'pick' which destinations are their preference. This is truly a drawback for the taxi-riding public; it encourages a monopoly. Given this scenario, a non GT using commuter will think about using GT in the future for ease. If GT is to dominate the taxi industry, and they no longer have promos and their booking fees are in full effect, and almost majority of the taxis are using GT, then God help us commuters. Why would a cab choose to pick-up a regular passenger, when they can earn more using GT?




I happen to live in the Mandaue Bakilid area, directly behind J Centre mall. Whenever I try to book a ride using GT, I detail specifically where I want to be picked up which is convenient for me (just a few meters from J Centre mall's back gate. Now isn't that hard to find?). Out of the 100 attempts I tried, only about 4 was fruitful. BUT if I set the pick-up location at J Centre mall front entrance, I have no issues getting a booking. If I have to WALK jut to get a GT cab, same as an ordinary cab, then where is convenience in this? Where is the advantage in using GT? NONE. Apparently, GT drivers pick you up ONLY if your location is convenient for them.



I rarely use this app even if they have discount promos. It's not worth the headache and wasted time. It only works if your destinations are convenient for them. Giving Taxi Drivers this 'choice' to choose which destinations are convenient for them allows them an unfair advantage.
