MBR supports up to 2TB HDD, don't see why your 1.5TB should'nt work.
did you already reset the CMOS/BIOS as suggested? remove the battery for 30 minutes.
also try updating the M/B BIOS (FIRMWARE).
you should also make SATA HDD the primary/bootable/system drive since it's much faster than PATA.

If you want to be able to use 2TB or higher on your M/B, download Seagate's DiscWizard software.
