Hi Ansley,

One of my people is in Japan as an AOTS scholar and I am planning of ordering two or three of the following books from Amazon.co.jp and delivering it
to our host\'s office:

Yes, just like what Isteb said, just copy from manga or anime that I like. I am DLing some \'stuff\' right now in alphabetical order and just scanning the first
issues of each to find artwork that I like. There are so many I hope to finish DLing by Sunday.

i have some scans of how to draw manga guides, including details on characteristics of manga archetypes. it goes as far as to recommend a chin size for villains, arm length for stealthy ninja types, various hairdo, etc. maybe you would like a copy, just give me an email ad where i can send it.

i usually see shonen jump in NBS pero mga back issues na. most of the time naa sa kids section and gi tago-an pa gyud that even the salespeople don't know where it's located. so panagsa ra ang kahibaw. mas sayon kung adto na lang sa ca comm.

there was a manga sketchbook with exceptionally good works. each month this sketchbook would feature a different mangaka. it was during the time when National Bookstore first brought in how to draw manga guides, and they featured in a separate booth. it was a collection of the artist's best works and it included some commentaries from the artist. sayang lang kay di pa ko kahibaw mubasa ug hinapon adto.

pero yup, shonen jump would be a good place to start. most of the manga there have art that's somewhat easy to copy. or you can also wait until NBS brings in Php 65.00 manga from tokyopop again.

Btw, the Shonen Jump sold at NBS or CA COMM are the English or original Nihongo versions?

they're in english, bro. i was actually looking for the nihongo versions since the manga featured there are more up-todate. i was after the bleach manga, actually. :P

then Oh! Great, Takehiko Inoue, and Kentarou Miura are some mangakas you can look up to.

you might also try the Naruto-mangaka. He's probably one of the best when it comes to fish-eye perspectives.

tony taka -type kaayo ni nimo

I'm sure you know shirow already... ( read somewhere that he's half pinoy )

bengus and akiman - street fighter artists

hyung tae kim - although he's korean so he's not manga but rather man hwa

yoshitaka amano - not realistic but very influential

tezuka osamu - walt disney sa japan.



pero naa jud big eyes ang manga.. so tagsa ra matawag nmo realistic. :P

pero why bother buying those books.. the anatomy books you have share the same basic principles you can use to develop manga style drawing..

@zerk: I just remembered that one of the sea-dees you gave me contained manga/anime artbooks.

As for the upskirt shots, I'm ok with that type of shots but not depicting kids. I think Tony Taka's has pedo tendencies in his art.

check out jo chen she works for mainstream comics , marvel, dc. she's one of the few good female comic artist .
