A TOP police official yesterday urged a courier company to cooperate with police following a series of robbery incidents victimizing its four outlets last month.

This, after footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera of one of the robbed LBC outlets was reportedly deleted, said Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, head of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

“This is very important evidence that would help us identify the robbers,” he told Sun.Star Cebu.

Insp. Edgar Labe, head of Moalboal Police Station, said he was disappointed with management for not cooperating with them.

Faces ‘shown’

“Nasagmuyo gyud ko kay gihaguan baya ni namo og solbad. Para ilaha ra pud baya ni (We worked hard to solve the case. And this is for their own good),” he said in a phone interview.

The LBC outlet in Barangay Poblacion East, Moalboal lost P40,000 cash to two armed men last Saturday in a robbery that took three minutes.

Labe said he sent a letter to LBC to ask for a copy of the CCTV footage, but he learned last Sunday that the footage, which showed the faces of the robbers, was deleted.

A week before the robbery in Moalboal, another LBC outlet in Barangay Libertad, Bogo City was also robbed. The establishment lost P70,000.

Waiting game

Chief Insp. Germano Mallari, head of Bogo City Police Station, said they are still waiting for management to release the CCTV footage.

Once they get the okay, they will have to wait for an IT personnel to turn over the footage.

“Nagdagan ang oras. Sayang kay mas madali siguro nato ni og solbad (Time is ticking. It’s too bad since we might be able to solve the robbery immediately),” Mallari said.

The two police chiefs said the suspects may be part of a group that specializes in robbing courier companies. The suspects hid their faces with ball caps.

Gillamac, on the other hand, is also asking courier companies to take action amid the incidents.

He said they have to hire security guards or deposit their money and leave only little cash during weekends. “This is also a form of deterrence,” he said.
