The biggest mistake Linux and Linux users have ever made is comparing it to and trying to be better at what Windows does. PERIOD.
Originally Posted by vern
Actually, Linux is better than Windows. I've been using Linux for many years now. I did not encountered any problems. Even in the office which runs 24/7. Ang naka-nindot sa Linux kay better memory and process management than Windows.
They have not done any mistake, mind you. People are complaining of the high cost of proprietary softwares and developers are inspired to create better Linux distros which are almost similar to Windows. The good thing about open source programs is that they are free. Don't you know even the NY Stock Exchange migrated their mainframe programs to Linux thus saving at least 35%-65% in cost. Bottomline: it is cost, cost and cost.Originally Posted by vern

UNIX enigneer man mi..ahahaha
wow talk about Linux fanboys. If I wanted Linux to be like Windows, I'd use Windows. Thank you. Spare me the fanboy speech, I have used Linux and open source as long if not longer than many of you. The only difference is, I use the best tools to do the job and they are NOT always Linux. Windows does some things a lot better than Windows and vice versa.
As for cost, up front cost does not reflect the real cost of Linux. How do you think Linux companies stay afloat? On donations? pfft!
@vern..lols...
bro basin dri raka nagwork kai windows man imoha..eheheh pangabroad ni amoa bro. why challenge ng windows.
binata man na..tsk tsk tsk...
Actually, Linux or any open-source is the price ang gi-apas. It is the source code. If you read any open-sourced Licenses (i.e. GPL) ila gud gi state na "When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price". That's why naa gihapon company na buhi.Originally Posted by vern
For me I use Linux because I cannot afford those high prices on the Windows. So I should thank myself that I do not use any pirated softwares.
lols bro wala ko sa pinas bro. lols basin ig abroad nimo bro maka kita ka unsa ang reality bro. Fanboyism without credence ... Linux for the sake of using Linux ... tsk tsk ... mao na ang binata bro. Dako-a na nimo bro sa, nag abroad naka diha sa pinas.Originally Posted by daserock
The source code and the freedom to change the code to fit one's needs is a big reason for a company to use Linux, but the money is not in the software, it is in the support for the software. You obviously did not understand my post.Originally Posted by eax
