    We don't know what religious tribe the girl belongs to. Apparently syria is composed of many ethnic groups who belong to different religious denominations. Also, with such diversity syria is actually a tolerant society but this could only be limited to conservative ideas. Apparently what happened to the girl may prove that syrians generally do not adhere to progressive and liberal ideas such as social networking. It would be difficult for any business regardless of its business model if it does not adhere to their conservative beliefs.

    But there are syrians out there who have facebook accounts, this could just be considered an isolated case since no syrian is the same in terms of religious beliefs and culture. To make it sensational in the media would make one think this could be a way of demonizing syrians as a whole, which is absurd.

    If you try to search it a lot says it's a fabricated story used for war propaganda.. eng- eng-eng...
