digital superman is correct, love is long term. according to studies, infatuation can last until 18 months! or 1 1/2 years. just imagine that you are infatuated with your boyfriend or girlfriend for 1 1/2 years? after the infatuation is gone, you will realize that its not love but just infatuation and you will leave him. ouch that hurts. that's why couples break up after a year or 2 because they realize that they are no longer inlove with each other or one is no longer inlove with the other, its not because they feel out of love but because he/she is not inlove in the first place, its just infatuation. well, thats what i've read from a psychology/self-help book.
