Think about it, once this happens all squatters all over the country will clamor the same privilege. Not that I am against their right to shelter, but doing it this way is wrong. They already have a place albeit in the province. It would be wiser to send them back to where they came from and give them a form of livelihood. Criminalize squatting and make sure that the places where they will be sent to will have adequate shelter and a decent house. These houses should not be sold and rented out again hence such act should be made illegal. Even in other nations land owners have rights to shoot informal settlers who trespass into their property.

Imagine, if we had a trade surplus we would then use that to finance these housing projects instead of focusing on our poor transport infrastructure, communications infrastructure, national security infrastructure and most important of all our energy infrastructure. Remember, a trade surplus does not come too often and rarely will last up to a decade without government intervention. But it would be a dream to have a trade surplus but it is possible.

Since we can't provide the best to our people most families would choose to go overseas and take the first ticket to immigration in a heartbeat. I can't understand the logic behind this plan except to win votes for the particular area.

    A shot in the dark:

    Gov

    Hahahahaha.

So long as "informal settlers" can vote, nobody will take the necessary steps to conclusively deal with the problem. They will forever be in the pocket of unscrupulous politicians, their numbers swelling with little reason to join mainstream society.

It does not really matter who coined that term. The bias is against the very people who have used it extensively and who have benefited from it tremendously. Name the politicians from the local chief executive, the brgy. level chief executive, some party list groups, and of course some organizations used as a front for the communist agenda.

These colonies keep the LGUs weak, they take up the time of the local police force, they also leech of the infrastructure of whatever place they land their feet on, like the water and energy infrastructure.

do you guys have the full transcript of this order? I agree the post above, this may be an enabler kind of thing. Did you know kung totally free ba ang balay?

^^ You do not need a transcript of the order. The post the TS was referring to was the demolition of squatters living along agham road in the north triangle in QC(not sure of the city).

Getting rid of squatters in Quezon City - YouTube

Take note that it is not only the squatters the government(as well as the middle classes) are up against. They have party list groups, labor unions, and communists who want to take advantage of the situation.

Mayor Herbert is aware of the professional squatters and he intends to go after them with the help of DILG. Refer to some of my earlier posts in this thread.
