Its not a matter of finance , man power , morale support etc . In peace times , diha nimo masukod ang usa ka ALLY even if it takes " a 3rd world country helping the super nations " happen . Helping each other out , those who are not from the US or lives in the US , ga tuo na lang gyud mo na abi ang US kurat na kaayo , NO ... you guys have no IDEA whats going on right now in NEW ORLEANS and neighboring towns . ALl you see are pictures , hear news , etc but if naa gyud ka didto .... you will understand .

I think this is the question that asks on an opinion on Philippines sending help for the Katrina victims. As I can see in the arguments, most are like answering a question like "Shall we help US first or ourselves first?"

Hindi naman na uunahin natin talaga ang PINAS bago ang US. Diba meron din namang mga biktimang Pinoy na nandun sa US na nasalanta ng Bagyong Katrina. Let's HELP them, the general kung pwede.

I agree with darkwing, it's just a gesture of friendship. And I agree with Springfield too... kung naa mo sa US you will see how bad the situation really is. Let's not forget that this rather big nation, although a super power and a rich country, have spent billions of dollars for Iraq liberation, sent their own troops for the said cause as well, I think for me, although I have disagreements towards US government's motive to go to war in Iraq, we can't deny the fact that they spent money and sent their troops. In fact, the unlawlessness in New Orleans right after the storm happened because of a lack of law enforcement officers. Philippines giving a little help for me is a good gesture, not for the US governent, but for the victims. Para man sa victims ang tabang dili man para sa gobyerno. It's funny how I see the American people apart from their government. Mura silang duha ka lahi nga grupo ba. The US government's decisions especially regarding war, is not majorly supported by it's people. To the simple American, they innocently see their government's decision to help Iraq as just mere help. Kung bati atong tan-aw sa US if we look at the side of the coin in their every endeavour in their led-wars, dili nato apilon ang tanang Americans kay wala sila labot kung unsa man ganing tago nga motibo sa ilang gobyerno.

we have seen the american people respond generously to help others around the globe during their times of distress and they had never hesitated to help filipinos in times of calamity.. so i think it is but proper for us to return the favor to them..

sending a 25 man medical and engineering team to u.s. to help in relief operations for thousands of victims of hurricane katrina and 25,000 dollars by phil. national red cross is just a little help as compared to those extended by old friends like britain and even old foes like cuba..

I don't see anything wrong with helping our neighboring countries. Another thing is we also have kababayans there in Missisipi which were also affected but bayanihan spirit had boost their adrenalin. Without hesitation, some of our fellow pinoys there helped their neighbors.

And for me, it's like an investment. It could bring our country good karma. Someday, when we experience a similar calamity, they would be helping us. It would further strenthen the good relationship between our country and theirs. Good friends helps each other.
