Hi, I can't help you with specific ways because I don't know the details about your business however I can share with you some general ideas to help you jump start your marketing.

Getting new customers can be very complex and expensive especially if you don't know what you are doing. Marketing can be a money sucker if you don't do it smartly. Start your marketing by making a marketing plan -- this is very important. Like they say, "if you don't have a plan then you are planning to fail" and that's true. A lot of business owners view a marketing plan as 100+(exaj gamay) page document full of technical terms and mumbo jumbo that they don't have the time to read and study and if they do read it, by the time they're done, the situation has changed making the plan useless. And, that may be the reason why they don't bother planning, but that would be a very big mistake especially in a highly competitive market.

BUT, your marketing plan doesn't have to be that way.

    So how do you plan?

I use simple but highly effective planning method for my business and clients that you may also find useful. You don't need a very long plan - 1 or 2 pages can do.

Start by stating in a sentence or two the purpose of your marketing. (This tells you why you do what you do. It also defines your goals/targets for doing marketing.)

Next, think of your products/services and think of the benefits/value that you give to your customers in order to achieve the purpose stated in step 1. (worry free experience, triple checked equipment before every dive, free lessons, etc -- be very specific)

When done, choose your target market. Find your niche market and dominate it before you expand to other markets. ( You must spend time to research your market niche. You mentioned that you are targeting foreigners. That is too broad. Unless you have tons of cash for wide scale advertising. If you don't, then start finding your niche. Narrow it as much as you can.) Rule of the thumb is -- if you can't reach your target market easily using regular communication media then they may not be the right market for you.

Next, describe why your target market would buy your service/product? (Put yourself in the shoes of the buyer and ask yourself, why should I buy from you? Think this through.)

Then, outline your marketing strategies, tactics and tools that you will use. (advertising, website, partnerships, discounts, referral system, etc and that includes what the other posters here said) Your tactics and tools should be based on your target market.

At this point, dapat more than half page nka sa page 1. Hapit naka mahuman.

Next, next describe the identity that you want you business to be known and seen. (Honest and hardworking staff, have a sense of humor, well trained, clean, etc)

Second to the last, Determine your marketing budget. How much are you willing to spend to get a customer?

    Lastly, follow your plan religiously.

    PAGE 2
Create a calendar of activities. Schedule your tactics and tools. Assign a budget, manpower and other needed resources.

Congratulations! You have a powerful and effective marketing plan. The key to saving money is testing.. Test your marketing methods before going full blown with it. You don't want to spend thousand on advertising that will not bring in customers, will you?

Review your plan as often as needed. The beauty of this planning technique is that when you test a marketing tool and you found out its not working, then you can easily revise your plan. This will keep you on top of your competitors who will end up playing catch with you.

Get a pen and paper and start writing your plan now.

P.S. If you've invested hundreds of thousands on your business, it would be wise to spend a portion of it on a solid business and marketing plan.

P.P.S. If there's a group of 10 or more istorya business owners who wants to learn about powerful and practical business growth tips and marketing strategies to help you improve your revenue and increase your profits, I can give you a semi-seminar/group meeting style talk/discussion at no cost to you. All you have to do is organize yourselves and provide the venue (kanang dili layo from basak, lapu-lapu. pwede ra balay bsta pwede magsaba-saba). Schedule will be subject to my free time. Topics that I can talk about: general marketing, effective advertising techniques, pricing strategy, branding, strategies on: getting new customers, customer retention, increasing customer value (get them to buy more and often). Reply diri if interested.

P.P.P.S. Since daghan backlash diri regarding mga free-free. For full disclosure, I'm a marketing consultant with my own consulting firm and have a book published and sold at amazon but I will not be asking anyone to hire me or buy my book. Then why would I spend time and effort doing it for free? It's simple, I develop business growth strategies & marketing systems for my clients and it requires a lot of market research (takes time and money).Instead, I can share my ideas to my fellow istoryan business owners and in turn you can critic it and give your insights, talk about your current business situation and I help you apply these ideas to your business. If it works for you then you get to improve and grow your business and I get to improve my knowledge on current issues facing business owners which I also use to improve my services. So it's a win-win for both.
