    i applied for a globe DSL, and specifically requested for an rj45 modem (alcatel 511) instead of the speedtouch 330 usb modem. Ok man sugot ra sila...So If you want to apply sa globe dsl, try to request this kind of modem (ALcatel 511).

    By the way, they still have the promo ongoing kato 990+ for the DSL and 50% off sa imu phone bill so you pay only 1200++ /month.
    Dawat pud cla ug switcher from other DSL to globe, naa free na HP printer.
    Inquire sa globe lang if interested mo.

    Do you think their scheme will benefit us after 2years ? Maybe the cost per month on DSL will lower after a year so we get caught on the contract of 2 years & lose instead of gaining.

    @zirv: The USB modem was supplied by Globe to prevent sharing but I don't think its the right policy...do they want you to get 2 dsl lines for 2 PC in a house

    I am thinking of getting a dsl router with LAN but I'm afraid of compatibility issues....

    bro duha ra man kaha ka pc? y man kinahang pa ka ug router? cross cable bro pwd nana.. both pc must have NIC installed. Configure na lang nimo ang home network.

    cross cable Don't you think that's a very crude solution...

    why I need a dsl modem with rj45(LAN) port

    here's an example

    DSL modem RJ45 ------>Ethernet switch------>WiFi Access Point------> Multiple PC

    As you can see this is a more flexible set-up I can connect my PC with the switch and also connect the laptop by WiFi

    Cross cable is not the solution

    with a USB DSL modem i have to dedicate 1 pc which will be powered on 24/7......not a good idea

    Bro, you can request to change your Globelines modem (Speedtouch 330 - USB) into Speedtouch 511e - RG 45, with built-in router function. In this case, switch na lang kinahanglan nimo maka share na ka ug internet dayon....

    mao ni akong gibuhat kay kung magpa-install ka nila Speedtouch 330 lang gyud na ilang itaud. just request sa customer care nila...dali lang sad magpailis, ang akoa after 1 day pag request nako...

    scarab, when u use a switch, does it mean that 1 pc has to act as a server, meaning you just use internet connection sharing to do this.
