why is it that most of the bands in cebu is doing cover?

That sucks nga ang clubs doesn't host bands that plays original. It's sad to realize that the crowd would rather hear a band do a cover instead of them playing their own music, promoting their sound. Sakto kaayo si Glassmoon about Cebuanos nga sakay kaayo sa uso....
Hopefully naay mo open nga club sa Cebu nga mo cater to people who only does original materials.

The Local Ground scene was the reason I wanted to be in a band. They got chicks and I wanted to have some of my own.

And there WAS a club that let you do original songs. It was called ARTIST DAIS, and it helped develop & nurture the local scene. It lasted for 5 years, most of the time, we played in front of no one else but the other bands and their girlfriends, but it was a happening place where everyone knew everybody else. I miss it dearly.

we should support our underground music here in cebu kay kung dili ta mo supporta wala nay lain mu supporta nya i have notice something sad diri sa cebu nga kung duol ka sa luwag kana musikat. Most of the common bands nga sikat sa pinas kay mga taga manila lang, wala kaayo taga cebu.

yes, it's ok to do covers... however, most musicians get stuck in that phase.... a good friend of Dong Abay (Yano) told me that the latter made a bold statement that went like, " kung hindi kayo gumagawa ng sarili nyong kanta, wala na kayong silbi sa mundo ng Musika"... is this true personally, i live by this maxim... Im not so sure though with other "musicians"... I'm posing this question to them as a challenge...

I blame the original composition themselves for the lack of appreciation from the people. People will recognize good original artists. They may enjoy a showband concert, but that's just that--- people come, saw, and had fun. The band is not worth remembering.

I believe a new original song will need to be really good to get regular radio circulation. After people hear it on the radio (and dig it), play it live and that's how people come to love it. A very good example is the music of urbandub.

I really believe that there are only a handful of good original artists here in cebu, but cebuano listeners do have good taste in music. Too bad the majority are listeners.
