Israel is just a small country compare to their Arab neighbors but they have the best battle hardened tacticians and sophisticated military equipment next to USA.

they are receiving aid from Jews outside their country. And Jews are known to be very much in control of their finances. Plus, the lobbyists in Washington for the Israeli interests.

You have this influx of money, plus brilliant leadership (particularly Ben-Gurion) in the beginning and brilliant commanders in the IDF, never-ending flow of military aid, and an unwavering population. That's why they could match anything the Arabs threw at them during those tumultuous years.
