That's how it is for the medium to large breed. It is better to spend that amount than losing both your bitch and her pups.

The amount varies depending on what clinic you choose. There are clinics I know that offer cheaper but quality services. In our case, we had no choice. Only Animal Wellness and Animal Kingdom were open on that midnight (00:00H) of May 1. 2012 (Labor Day). We were refused by Animal Kingdom because they were undergoing a CS operation to another dog.

Bottom line: Be prepared regardless of what breed do you have.
