In terms of games? DS Lite, no question, the PSP's damn gorgeous, but once the initial wow factor of its screen and looks wear off, you're stuck with a gaming device that has only a handful of must-own games.

The PSP's serviceable as a multimedia device though, if you like converting your movies to its format (and you have a gig or 2 free from your memstick) and you wanna watch your movie on the go, its widescreen format is great, one of the few things I miss when I sold mine.

    for me <-- take note

    I love the PSP because
    1. the hardware itself "feels" more like a gadget than a toy (Gameboy or NDS FOR ME is like a toy)
    2. the games FOR ME are more into my taste (Pokemon for example on the GBA is a bit too cartooney)
    3. I don't play too-long-to-complete games anymore like rpgs (especially turn-based). the PSP has games that FOR ME are best for on-the-go gaming that does not require you to save your progress. For example when shopping together with my girlfriend she goes to the fitting room while I turn on the PSP and play 3 rounds of Tekken or I can play a short round of tennis without having to worry of saving or not saving the game.
    4. the screen is better than the DS or DS lite. 16:9 ratio. plays mp3s, videos
    5. has an ok browser so I can check my site or email
    6. has a camera option
    7. inspires creativity and fuels curiosity
    8. can be customized to no end hardware and software
    9. I love tinkering with it's innards hardware and software
    10. it's getting cheaper
