How One Punch Changed Professional Sports - ABC News

Rudy Tomjanovich - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The "The Punch" incident almost killed him and it changed basketball forever. Basketball was a tougher, more physical game then. But since that one punch, the NBA and other professional sports organizations began cracking down on fighting with penalties for players. He had been a Rockets player all his NBA career that spanned for 11 years.

In 1992, he became Houston Rockets head coach and in '94-'95, led the team to back-to-back NBA championships. It was on the floor of The Summit after they captured their second title that Rudy proclaimed, "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!"

source: Utah Jazz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stockton to Malone was born! It was 1985 when Karl Malone came to Utah, a year after John Stockton. The irony was Jazz fans were not happy when the team picked an unknown guard in the 1st round of the NBA Draft, John Stockton . The Jazz fans on hand for the draft party booed the selection.

But then, he became one of the best point guards in NBA history.

Stockton to Malone had been a common expression by commentators during a Jazz game. I remember that it had a tagalog version too, and that was "Stockton tumalon". I guess, it was due to a jumping action done by Stockton while passing the ball to Malone. hehehe

After 19 years (Stockton) and 18 years (Malone, but had a 1 yr stint in Lakers jersey) wearing the Jazz jersey, they retired from basketball and opened a car dealership that they named: Stockton to Malone Honda, but later renamed this to Stockton 12 Honda. While Malone has his own car dealership too, the Karl Malone Toyota. Karl Malone Toyota | New Toyota dealership in Draper, UT 84020

One of the best combos in NBA history indeed, in and out of basketball!
