Facebook is supposed to pull people together, not apart. People just tend to make a bad use of something that's supposed to be good.

haha yeah but theres no proceedings yet for this type of case. this hasnt been regulated since karaan pa ato balaod. lets see if this will progress.

Right. AFAIK, there is no law yet for Internet Libel here in the Philippines though there have been similar cases like this being filed in court. An example is Belo v. Guevarra. Later the case was reported as dismissed.

they may have filed the case, but the defendant can easily deny or make a statement that that account who is defaming is just a fraud account or fake.

Yes, you have a point there since the poster doesn't specifically named the girl in her post. Though the only clue was that she was described as 'favorite niece'. Anything has loophole. Since internet is used as a medium of communication, people tend to be expressive without giving thoughts on what they had posted online... most of the cases found in fb. Unlike personal confrontation between two persons, this is more damaging than the word of mouth.

I think naay nakisawsaw sa away ani nila kay wala man ma settle sa barangay. Ni abot pa man tawon ani nga point.
