As for the USB - Universal Serial Bus, this is a standard interface so any usb terminal or port is identical. It will only vary in the version (which includes the transfer speed, electrical features, etc.).
For external drives you have two options. first, if you go for portability and lightweight, consider 2.5" drives. Second, if you go for capacity (200GB Max.), you get the 3.5" drives.
