i wouldn't risk it if that is an expensive processor, check the LGA map in the processor datasheet. the contacts on the processor could be VDD (or voltage), pins might move and then you have 2 dead components; mobo and processor. this is one of the reason why intel switched to land grid array. it's easier to replace the socket or the motherboard itself than damaging the entire chip with a broken pin. but again, you do as they instructed at your own risk, so the decision is still yours.
