Darn I hated that because the qeueu after checking was so long (safety scan check and all), had to stand for 30 minutes and I wanted badly to sit in a cafe before flight and have a nice cup of coffee and ciggy. I ended up rushing to board. Whoever designed that mile long stretch of check in counters is darn stupid and they should make the directions clear in English! It's an international airport, even if the terminal is within the EU, duh.
That probably explains why the airport code is MAD?

I haven't been to sunny Spain, but of all the airports I visited, I think the LAX (Los Angeles) and JFK (New York) are just not setup for the convenient transfer of international passengers catching their domestic flights. That is, you have to physically go in and out of terminal buildings. Contrast this to say, ATL (Atlanta) where one disembarks from an international flight, pickup luggage, go through customs, all these without the hassle of going in and out of buildings.

all the manila airports except ang naia centennial for domestic departure. mas nindot and orderly pa ang cebu airport.

go figure, when manila is suppose to be our nation's capital. i could never understand why all the airports are separated. there's naia1, naia2, old domestic, etc. can't they just join them all together in one place?

There may have been several engineering, financial, and practical considerations that made NAIAx managers and consultants go for the physical separation of the terminals. I suspect financial considerations outweighed efficiency in this case. One possible reason a consultant might offer: "we can't afford disruptions while we are tearing down walls to connect NAIA1 to NAIA2, and retrofit existing structures to meet current specifications and building codes." Besides, the consultants were probably hired by the funding agency/donor: what the donor wants, the donor gets.

Hay naku tinuod! Then come the tax cabs na hold-apon ka sa presyo just for a transfer from NAIA or Centennial to the Domestic airport.

Nindot ra gyud ang airport sa Cebu, limpiyo and organized, pareho sa Centennial.

And true, the government should make an effort to consolidate all the airports. So far as what I know, all runways meet together, only the departures and arrival terminals are located far from each other. Does anybody know if they have a long term airport consolidation plan in Manila? Kay chaotic kaayo uy!

I guess, the manila airport is a mere reflection of our government today --- Divided they are till the bitter end.

Even the JFK Airport in New York is made up of many terminals. And so with the one in London, LA, etc..etc.. Lisud man gud i-expand basta existing na nga structure..

By the way, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport will be building a new International Terminal worth P1 Billion (exclusively for International Flights) starting next year.. It will be finished in four years. In another development, the existing four aerobridges (tubes) on the existing terminal will be upgraded and added with two more to bring it to a total of six. The project will start anytime now and will be finished within six months. The said project will cost P109 million.
