That's noble but I believe Cebu or the Philippines for that matter don't have the neutral standing in the ASEAN Region knowing that our country is a known ally of the US who is a war freak. RECOGNITION of neutrality which is a political act of the states or the international community is indespensable..
If i were to suggest, Singapore is a better venue.

Cebu is just offered as a venue......but not necessarily the mediator, I guess.........so I think neutrality will not be an issue.......
honor then horror..
first is the venue of nuke talks then next cebu will be the venue of nuke tests..hehehe
basin magdala ug Taepodong-2 missile ang taga NOKOR nya adto i display babaw sa HELIPAD sa CICC =)
Got a point.. but almost always venue for international talks especially peace talks is made in neutral or neutralized countries..Originally Posted by bcasabee

Considering the bad press the Philippines have been getting after the ASEAN Summit fiasco, I say the chance of this being held here is one in a trillion.. What if there is a typhoon? What if there are aliens from outer space coming? Postpone nasad? I seriously doubt any major player in these talks even take this offer seriously. We send them a fax on the offer, I bet that piece of paper is on the trash can right now.
A minister from Japan, considering Japan is one of the major player here, said that holding of an international meet in a tourist destination like Cebu is an ill conceived idea. Well that says much about Cebu.
It is sad what has happened to the Philippines, to the extent of what it is doing just to get some attention. We are like a frail little kid on the basketball court who never gets picked and keeps on shouting "pick me, pick me" just to get attention.
We should learn to keep quite, dili ta magpatuga-tuga. Let us learn from the recent successful December 10-14 ASEAN Summit. It was not yet our time to host the meet, it was Myanmar but it backed out, and as expected the Philippines offered dayun.... Tan-awa na yabag na. From major media outlets like AFP and Reuters to a minister from Japan and Prime Minister of Cambodia, all have negative impression on us. International recognition ? More like an international black eye. Di pa gyud ta matagam? Magpuyo sa ta oi, dili ta magpalabi ug ki-at.
What if Al Qaeda holds a summit? Will we offer Cebu as a venue for that too? Maayo mag pa picture si Teddy kuyog ni Bin Laden.![]()
well, it would be a great oppurtunity for us to let the world know that we are PRO-PEACE. Six party talks is a clear indication that RP is joining the rest of the world in upholding the economic stability and tension-free world. I think there's no wrong as well of having Cebu as the host for such historic event. This is vital for Cebu as well to be internationally recognized and letting the world know that are very optimistic in having nuclear-free Asia....
This frail little kid who has the guts will be likely more successful when he grows up............
If we won't host it now....we will count another 7 years I think before we can host the ASEAN Summit kay rotation man siya bro and who knows if Cebu will be chosen as a venue....so mas nindot nga karon nalang.....Grab the opportunity dayon ba....dili kay perfectionist nga daghan kaayo ug prerequisites nga i follow before ta maka host....mura ka ug tawo nga sobra ra ka rt nga dili mo gawas sa balay kung dili perfect iyang itsura.........Originally Posted by Asean_Summit
