    Default LINUX VS. WINDOWS

im using linux right now both for games, multimedia, and desktop. i have no problems since i have installed it. its quite stable, indeed, but needs updating and patching from time to time. updating your software is very important especially when you are administrating a computer network.

when it comes to games, no problems. i usually play FPS-type of games (i.e. Cube, Quake 4, Enemy Territory, Unreal Tournament, Doom 3, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and others alike). but there are othe types of games, such as, bomber man, civilization, tux racer, mahjong, just to name a few.

playing movies? no problem (again)! i use MPlayer as my media player but there are others out there. but this usually depends on your taste of choice whichever you are comfortable with.

generally, linux is the only OS i have ever used in which i dont worry about virii, worms, and internet attacks (it seems so). i dont have to worry about support since the my distro got a great forum where people would really help you.

now, i do hope my comments would enlighten you about linux.

im running Libranet 2.8.1 (Free Edition), btw, if that matters.

@AMD_infinium05æ: you must have 64MB of RAM, 64MB of video card memory for running XWindows, a good sound card, CD-ROMS, and mostly the same hardware you can found at any computer stores. recommended requirements? well, i very particular with the video card. you MUST have an NVIDIA graphics card. this is good mostly when it comes to games. compatibility issues? not much on current hardwares...

the most common thing for linux is the "price", you can download most linux distro for free. yes for free without paying anything. i also like the built-in apps.

if La Union can do it...Cebu can definitely do it also...being an IT Hub in the philippines, cebu can develop its own distro.
    i hope so....

bitaw, kung naay plano nga mo-develop ug distro for cebu, i'd be happy to lend my services...bisag testing lang gud..or dili lang ba kaha tig-alsa nalang sa computers...basta naa nacontribute...wala paman sad kaayo ko alam sa linux...newbie paman sad ko...ang importante magtinabangay..
