i just bought a non-LED philips 220EL it's nice and cheap 1080p matte-type 22" LCD. less than 6k
LED, has many advantage over non-LED like, slim design and low power consumption.
however, the non-LED (CCFL) has some advantage over the more common LED LCD out there. it's color accuracy. (exclude RGB LED and AMOLED types)
Monitor buying guide - CNET Reviews
"... While CCFL-based monitors typically offer between 72 and 102 percent of the NTSC color space , RGB LED can cover up to 114 percent. EL-WLED does not offer high color gamuts and typically hit around 68 percent of the NTSC color space."
...
when you buy, check them side-by-side and do as many tests as you like. viewing angles, color, contrast, brightness, backlight bleeding, reflections, color temperature adjustments, etc etc..
