He has the talent but the wrong attitude.
It was truly a heart-warming gift for all of us (his family) that MarK Jayven Tallo has finally embarked on the journey towards reaching his life-long dreams. Basketball has always been Macmac’s passion. And for him to be a part of the strongest basketball team and to study in the best academic institution there is, there was truly nothing more that we could ask for. I have nothing but kind words to all of those who helped Macmac enter Ateneo De Manila University.
To see him play in the basketball court and showcase his talent brings me overwhelming joy. With the current situation, it truly pains my heart to witness that my son has slowly reclined from the athlete that he was. To see him waste his talent on the courtside bench and never get the chance to play for his team is excruciating. Whatever happened to the promises of allowing him to play for ADMU’s glory, I will never know.
Practice indeed makes perfect. But how can my son perfect his craft if he never gets to practice his skills in an actual game? I understand that there is a lot of polishing that he needs to undergo. I am not sure anymore if ADMU can help him on this since they never gave him a chance to show what he can do for the team. I may not be in the best position to make the decision on who gets to play in the court, but whoever is in post failed miserably. Macmac was been recruit by ADMU due of his basketball skills and talent, and if he loses this talent, what more help he can give to ADMU? Basketball is the hold of my son’s education.
Let me set the record straight that my son never wished for instant stardom. What my son wants is just a few minutes of quality time not a quantity time in pre-season games so he can adjust well with the team, for how else can he be best prepared for the big leagues if he never gets the chance to play in the minor leagues. If he is never used in minor leagues like Fil-Oil and Fr. Martin’s, how can he expect to play for the upcoming UAAP season? It was Coach Norman Black who made verbal promise that he will give a playing time at the same time with Keifer Ravena which Coach Norman no intention of fulfilling. Four point guards at the same team will be hard to make a decision who will move toward the court. As we can see, Coach Black trained Ravena as a legit point guard of the team which the same position of Macmac and they both freshmen. Tiongson is not yet graduating next year. How about if the team found another more talented player than him? So the team doesn’t need him anymore.
Nobody can judge anything yet, what really the internal situation…it is just between us and the ADMU only. Maybe ADMU is not my son’s providence. And maybe God has a better plan for him.
Again, from the bottom of our hearts, we would like to extend our gratitude to those who helped my son who really gave their effort to on his short-term residency in ADMU. Let’s hope someday my son will find his truly and accurate place where he belongs, he is still young and still have a big chance to think what is better for him.
From the mother's heart comment...
