Mobile Suit Gundam Age is set several hundred years after humanity first began to colonize space. All of humankind is united in an Earth Federation, and it seems as though the Earth has entered into an unprecedented era of peace.

In A.G. 101 (the 101st year of the Advanced Generation calendar) a mysterious entity known only as "UE," or "unknown enemy," attacks and destroys the space colony Angel. This brutal attack becomes infamous as the "Angel Sunset" event, and marks the beginning of humanity's war for survival.

Gundam Age is described as a multi-generational story dealing with nearly a century of war. It will have three different protagonists piloting the AGE-1 Gundam: Frit Asuno (age 14); Frit's son, Asemu Asuno (age 15); and Frit's grandson, Kio Asuno (age 13). The series begins in A.G. 108 when the UE attack the space colony Ovan, where Frit Asuno lives with his mother. Frit's mother is killed by the UE, and in her belongings (in an object called a "Device AGE") he discovers the blueprints for a powerful weapon from the past--the ancient messiah named "Gundam." From these blueprints, Frit spends the next several years studying engineering at an Earth Federation base on the Nora space colony and designing the AGE-1 Gundam. Seven years later, in A.G. 115, Frit completes the AGE-1 Gundam, jut as the UE attack Nora. In the 14 years of war with the UE, the Earth Federation has been unable to win a single victory against the strange marauders. Will the Frit and the AGE-1 be enough?


Further information about the series' plot is yet to be explained, but it was noted that this Gundam series have its character designs and merchandise oriented to younger audiences in contrast to previous installments of the franchise.
