you can easily make a ghost in photoshop...but photoprocessing experts can easily detect the difference between the pixels of the 2 images used...the ghost and the picture where it was added.
now, to get uniform pixel information, hoaxers will resort to a low-tech solution, which is to cut out an image intended to be used as the ghost, paste it on a transparent glass...this glass is then held by the photographer in front of the camera...compose the frame and take the shot...without using the flash of course. since the camera will focus on the background subjects, the cut-out "ghost" which is held very near the camera will naturally get blurred.
this picture obviously used this technique as you can very well see the glare appearing on the "not-so-polished" and "not-so-clean" glass that was used, superimposing over the guy in the picture.
this technique was explained and demonstrated in a news program last week by the way.
