Bag o lang gyud nako nahuman... di lang ko moccoment TS..
For those who saw it, I'm going to throw this question: What's your take on the ending? Did the the wanderer survive after getting struck on the neck by Naritsugu's sword? Or did they both really live (him and Shinzaemon's nephew)?
Excellent film. Ako lang wa ganahe initially was ilang 200 nga kontra murag namangon after ma-slash. I mean after defeating 70 nga ilang gi preparahan, they could have easily taken 10 each. In one scene gani one of them takes more than 10 then daghan pa keu nabilin nuun. But later I realized, it's surrealistic & I should not have let the numbers fooled me. Plus it's Miike so it's definitely multi-layered and not just in-your-face violence. It's something else extremely worthwhile, especially in projecting strong dedication to the samurai code. Hope everyone else realized it's not just plain violence and gore.
Can't wait for Miike's next offering that's premiering in Cannes Film Festival this May, HARA-KIRI 3D!
Miike? Samurai? 3D? Now that's really something very exciting...

tan-aw nya ko ani...murag naa man ni DVD...
murag tinuod jud na away! katoohan tanan!
ok rman ang movie bt dugay lang kau ang action... sa last part na ang action...
That's the beauty of it kay it's up for interpretation plus si Miike will not tell his explanations.. haha..
Yeah I think so too. They're all dead but the two lang ang murag na freed from the bondage of the way of the samurai. Sila lang duha ang ma-consider nga dili true-blue samurai.
The whole movie is actually about giunsa sa mga samurai ug ka rigidly and strongly uphold ang ilang code. Nga bahala mamatay sila basta lang maprotektaan nila ilang master kay mao na ilang sworn purpose as a samurai, for example. Grabe sila ka true sa ilang "the samurai way." mao they are very rigid, silent, and dead serious especially sa ilang sworn oath.
I mean take for instance si Shinzaemon, kumingking ra keu to niya ang evil lord nga si Naritsugu so ngano man paduslak pagid siya nga yano ra unta keu to niya e-slash ang ulo. It's because sa iyang pagpugot sa ulo ni Hanbei. It was both an accomplishment sa iyang goal at the same time panghinayang and shame so wala nay rason mabuhi pa. Iyang goal of a duel with Hanbei, who was his past colleague & friendly rival was accomplished yes but it had to be done in a shameful way, so as a rigid oath to the samurai code, he had to do Hara-Kiri for the shame. Hanbei of course was beheaded as a result of protecting his master, his samurai code.
So ang duha nabilin dili ka-relate aneng strict compliance to the samurai code plus they both have a love interest that keeps them alive.
Shinzaemon's nephew, IMO, represented the transition from the samurai era to the modern way of life. His samurai ways were slowly peeling off and he was always motivated to go look for meaning and reason. First, girls and gambling. Mura siyag niagig fleeting moment. Then he decides to join his uncle's army. Nya when the hunter character was introduced siya gid ang pinaka na attract ug interested gid keu. Coz the hunter was the representation of a complete transformation who was free-spirited and without the rigid code to live with. I believe di ni far-off na observation coz the hunter reminds me of Kikuchiyo, a similar character from Kurosawa's superb "7 Samurai" (which Miike tremendously pays homage to) nga murag nag pasabot nga chillax lang sa lyf & don't be too serious![]()
