Consumers will definitely benefit on cut-throat competition which will translate to better service at lower cost.

another set of infrastructure duplicating already existing infrastructure by companies already in the field.

    boggles the mind.

another competition!,,it won't be easy for Globe and Smart this time!!,,guys I don't know why but I have this weird feeling that M. Pangilinan's into something,,he just bought Meralco, Tv5 and now Sun Cellular..heard that a wealthy foreign family is financing his every move,,,i could be wrong though,,we'll see if this San Miguel's Liberty will cut the string,, go for healthy competition!!,,

    competition's good. regulation is better.

competition is quite useless when sooner or later one party is bound to gobble up another (smart bought piltel and red mobile, now Sun, globe bought TM/Islacom).

competition's main aim has always been to eliminate its competitors; the supposed benefits to the consumers are mere by-products of this intent. once it has achieved a position, like the previous Smart-Globe rivalry suggests, it can dictate the market prices, level of service and supply. whatever threatens this level of control should be eliminated or assimilated, hence the buy-out of Sun by Smart.

will Liberty Telecoms be successful in staying in the business for an extended amount of time? all that i wonder is who's going to buy who a few years from now.
