Andy Serkis (aka Gollum from the lord of the rings) will play as this wise monkey? ayt?
Nope Moy, this is a reboot--the story here is totally different from the Charlton Heston series of the 1970's.
In the original PotA storyline, the reason why apes became intelligent is because a strange disease wiped out all domestic cats and dogs, and thus human beings began to make chimps and gorillas as substitute pets, and that's why they became intelligent, because they were exposed to the human household.
In this new storyline, a drug/genetic alteration made the apes intelligent (very much like "The Secret of NiMH" but that involved rats/mice).
The only thing this new line has in common with the old line would be the titles. Nevertheless, as a hardcore PotA fan, I will indeed watch this.

i won't accept apes being the top of the food chain if they were to be a little smarter..
we have guns, tanks, jets, carriers, bombs, etc. and we're just gonna to lose to a bunch of primates fudge! haha i rather have machines(terminator) dominate us than apes...
this movie is a ape version of terminator LOL!
like if RWJ brought you here.
murag triling dah......hehehehhe

Humans became the dominant species once they started hunting and ingesting meat. The protein rich diet kick-started brain development and we began the phase of evolution which put us at the top. Now imagine an artificial drug which would trigger a far more rapid change in brain function, changes that could take place within one generation resulting in dumb apes becoming mentally superior to humans. They could soon turn our technology against us.
I think the concept is very good and the trailer reminds me a lot of 28 Days Later. This could be the awesome sci-fi blockbuster which I am Legend aspired to be.
let's say that drug is real, wouldn't us humans use it? if it was that advance of a "drug" or whatever we would definitely use it and be far more superior than chimps using it...
as we've seen in the Planet of the Apes they don't use advance weaponry and only uses medieval weapons, why is it we're dominated by them? we're the advance creatures in this planet and has already the "experience" so to speak, that's why it's impossible to happen but it's a movie anything can happen, right? haha
