I hope this will not be the case here... i hope the Chief Justice " too tired approach" will not apply here....
I remember that case. We were busy reporting the decision in one of our subjects when our professor told us that the decision was recently reversed. Our report was thus left with nothing. The main contention of our report was the prior decision of the Supreme Court.

    We never really know.

La BugaL B'laan case is different because the court in reversing the ruling was conscious about the prevailing situation in the country. We need mining to sustain the economy at the time when the government was cash strapped.

I didnt read the entire text of the ruling (taas kaayo) but in a nutshell murag ing ani ang backdrop sa desisyon sa La Bugal.

I was not surprised with Chief Panganiban's vote. He was very vocal. In fact it was Panganiban who lambasted the current administration for trying to pressure the SC to vote for the people's initiative.

But this current opposition victory wont last long. People's initiative proponents are filing for a reconsideration. Panganiban is about to retire.. Justice Puno is expected to replace him and of course the current administration can nominate another Justice for the SC and we of course expect what is the stand of the guy/girl who will be in the SC.
So if you think the current administration does not have due influence on the SC's decisions, well lets come back here when the SC decides on the "reconsideration" and Panganiban is out of the picture.

"ALWAYS" should be faithful... LOL.... I hope you wont be practicing that 'blind' faith and wake up someday realizing that you have been screwed. You should read more on past SC rulings and I hope you will realize that to BE "ALWAYS" FAITHFUL on its decision is not a good idea.

In fact this is probably the best "set" of Justices we have when it comes to being "independent". The key here is "set". To think that a Supreme Court Justice openly criticize a current administration is surprising. No offense to Former Justice Davide, but Davide was a mouth piece chief justice... The SC under him was too predictable.. what the administration wants, administration gets..This included the Erap and GMA administration. But he later screwed ERAP when everything was over and set for his downfall.

This will probably be decided when Panganiban is gone.... New Pro people's initiative person as Chief Justice..New Pro People's Initiative person as a replacement Justice of the SC.... Lets wait and see...

So we will probably have a unicameral congress.. Our saintly Tongressmen will be called ministers. So it will be drug lords, jueteng financiers, illegal loggers, war lords who will be voting for the highest post of the land as Prime Minister. Yeah tongressmen who are absent most of the time in congressional hearings and deliberations.
If Gloria does not look behind her shoulder and does not play her cards right, expect to have a Prime Minister Joe De Venecia and not PM GMA.... Hehehe... Ever wonder why Ramos support the people initiative and very passionate about it? Your guess is as good as mine..
