Smoking 1.5 packs of cigarettes per day: 80000 microsieverts/year (This is because there is natural radioactive dust that settles on the tobacco leaves while the plants are growing. Then, it gets rolled up into the cigarette, and when you smoke it, you breathe it into your lungs, which are one of the more radiation-sensitve organs in the body.)
ehem ... jo got a lighter .. hehe

    this part is a relief.

The plant came close to a core meltdown. Here is the worst-case scenario that was avoided: If the seawater could not have been used for treatment, the operators would have continued to vent the water steam to avoid pressure buildup. The third containment would then have been completely sealed to allow the core meltdown to happen without releasing radioactive material. After the meltdown, there would have been a waiting period for the intermediate radioactive materials to decay inside the reactor, and all radioactive particles to settle on a surface inside the containment. The cooling system would have been restored eventually, and the molten core cooled to a manageable temperature. The containment would have been cleaned up on the inside. Then a messy job of removing the molten core from the containment would have begun, packing the (now solid again) fuel bit by bit into transportation containers to be shipped to processing plants. Depending on the damage, the block of the plant would then either be repaired or dismantled.

There was a slight radio active material that was vented out as I recall. It was the steam to release the pressure of the core to prevent explosion. Can you explain to me again the radio active severity of the steam that was released?

There is no information yet as to how much radiation was carried off by that vented steam. However, this report should give you enough comfort.

    (from CNN)
"Tests in Fukushima city, 80 kilometers (50 miles) away, found radiation measuring 12.5 microsieverts per hour -- well above the average reading of 0.04, but still well below that considered harmful to humans."
