This is Vanessa Durano. I saw her in this same show on TV (not in person) years ago when Wowowee was still running. I didn't know her name then until someone asked whether she was Vanessa Durano in one of my Sinulog 2009 photos. It seems she's a famous local model and has been actually in many events already.

@wild: I'm using a Canon 450D and three manual focus* lenses. The photos seem sharp because of the small size. At 100%, they're not 'sharp'. In these events, one would be better served with either a full frame camera that is still 'noise-free' at let's say ISO 6400 and either a 24-105 F4L IS or two full-frames with 24-70 2.8L IS and 70-200 2.8L IS, respectively.

As for the lenses used, I use the following:

    1) Asahi Super Takumar 28mm f/3.5 - my preferred lens for intimate portraits (portraits with people I can get close to physically without them thinking I have ill-intentions, he he, and street photography)

    2) Helios 44-M 58mm f/2.0 - my preferred lens for events where I can move around. It lets me shoot candid photos without looking like a voyeur.

    3) Jupiter-9 85mm f/2.0 - it's a new lens that I got last December and I still haven't gotten used to the focal length. I have a crop body and it's actually equivalent to 135mm. I also have a Super Takumar 135mm f/3.5 which I use for street photography sometimes (voyeur type) and I prefer this length rather than the 85mm.

With that said, I'm not sure if I'll ever be good at normal length (28mm = 45mm). I'd like to try a 35mm but I have yet to find a fast manual focus 35mm that I can afford.

Eventually, as I age, I might go back to autofocus lenses.

I don't think I will ever shoot a frozen, sharp photo of action moves like this with a manual focus lens. However, I like the energy of these kids (makes one want to be 20 years younger). If I tried to do what that guy in front is doing, I'll have a backache for weeks.

I've read somewhere that 'fashion and glamour' photography shouldn't show your models in unflattering facial expressions but heck this isn't one and I like how their mouths are forming a pattern. The woman in pink is Loise Tan (Ms. Cebu 2007?). I had to Google her last name. I saw a photo of her with minimal make-up and she looks better IMO.

Written on the polo shirt is, "In the service of the Filipino." I forgot to take a photo of a snippet from Geny Lopez's book in the lobby. That snippet summed what his business was all about and I couldn't help but admire him for his clear vision. Here was a person who knew what he wanted to do with his life and he did before he passed away. I wish I could work with such a mentor in my lifetime.

She's a real cashier from Gaisano Capital, one of the many Gaisano department stores in Cebu. A bit camera shy but game anyway.
