i bought the od100 last November thinking it was a clone of the boss overdrives. it sounded more like a boss heavy metal . i tried modding it by replacing the stock 4560 opamp with 4558 but still didn't still sound like an od but a ds-1. this pm i removed some of the clipping diodes and it sounds more like an od. i plan to remove another diode and see/listen to what happens. yup its cheap, strong as a boss but the tone is not that good yet. i tried also stacking another 4558 and the drive sounds heavier.its made by beta aivin and sold as glx, boston eng, harley benton etc over the world. i dont know the story about a boss engineer starting his own company tho.sounds like the story floated by asia brewery that they managed to pirate a sanmiguel beer chemist way back in the 8o's? glx/boston eng has a nice range of affordable products. somebody in the jb music forum said the ds100, od100 and the hm100 sound almost the same save for some tone differences but i havent tried them.Originally Posted by tackielarla

i havent tried any boston pedals BUT i've noticed most people who bought them are selling them as fast as they could.. just look at the buy/sell section.. you'll find alot of threads of people selling boston pedals.. putting the pieces of the puzzle, it would seem they lack quality, cause if the pedals were that good, then people would hold on to it..
satriani used marshall amps for the chickenfoot tour (although he has a signature amp from peavey)
steve vai uses an mxr evh phase 90 in his pedalboard & a fender tweed along w/ his 2 carvin legacies signature amp
what i'm saying is that 'quality is quality' ,there's no denying to that.. if your product is that good, people would play it whether they get paid for it or they pay for it..
boston HM-100 ra...ok ra man...pero lahi ra ang tunog sa boss na metal zone, mas crunchy ang mga lower strings...
i once got DS-200 and EQ-200
unbelievable
