i just listened to their song called deliverance and read about them in wikipedia. i learned that Mikael Ã…kerfeldt, the band's vocalist, sings in both clean voice and death vocals (growling kind of singing) which i think is cool. the song deliverance is 13:36 long, like most of their songs which are lenghty (10 minutes or more).
i can't say i like it but i think i'll require a couple more listens. their type of rock is something i still need to educate myself.

oh yeah. opeth. sweden's progdeath standard bearer. i absolutely love this band. i always luv the two sides of Mikael Ã…kerfeldt's voice. long gone is the art of painting music, and i think im blessed i got to know and listen to opeth coz that's what they do. Demon of the Fall and Baying of the Hounds never escape my playlist. haha...

Opeth is good, I liked their earlier works, but the later ones sound boring and emo-ish. It's like *whine*whine*whine* and acoustic guitars. Sorry Opeth, you're off my list.

I don't see the point of playing in a band and going just one way when you can do everything. It would be impossible for us to play just death metal; that is our roots, but we are now a mishmash of everything, and not purists to any form of music. It's impossible for us to do that, and quite frankly I would think of it as boring to be in a band that plays just metal music.
