Yes. there's still a lot of Depeche Mode fans out there including myself... especially in todays goth scene, Depeche Mode is revered as one of the scenes major influence along with Joy Division, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, etc...
-------------
Depeche Mode's popularity started after SOME GREAT REWARD was released.... songs like PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE, SOMEBODY, MASTER AND SERVANT... Depeche Mode was starting to appear on Y101's regular rotation. Then came BLACK CELEBRATION with Flies On The Windscreen spearheading the album.... and after that, MUSIC FOR THE MASSES.. around this time, I was starting to get sick of Depeche Mode.. Strangelove was now played sa mga DISCORALS. Violator was the last studio album I bought... great songs on that album. When MODE101 Live album came out, everyone knew who Depeche Mode was. The live version of "SOMEBODY" was now everyone's fave love song.
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
before dm became a great band they were once a silly band with vince clark around, i just dont like them in the vince clark era they sound cheesy. a brocken frame is must heard, a follow up from their debut and you'll see that they are better without vince. thank God vince left that group
I wouldn't say silly... they were'n't that good back then and you must also understand that they were working with primitive keyboards. SPEAK AND SPELL sounded like a cheap video game with overdubbed vocals. A Broken Frame was decent but I rather liked Construction Time Again ... they were slowly stepping towards are more cutting edge and less pop sound on that album.

...hmmnn..basta ako la ko nag care f unsa kabati or unsa ka karaan ilang music...basta ang lyrics jud nila ang akong target...i lorve the lyrics of all the swongsss very mwuuucccchhhh..LifoSockkzzz!![]()
You don't care about the music? Well... there's always poetry.

I think they should release and album called violator part 2 coz violator is a god like record
no matter how good the lyrics is, if the music is bad it will always remain awful, like their new release exciter, the songs are well written but the music is lame.Originally Posted by Empress_Of_Drac

Martin Gore can be largely credited to the immense success and popularity of DM..Although Vince Clarke was the original songwriter of DM, after leaving DM and focusing on YAZOO...think that was the start where DM songs grew more
innovative, industrial and crafty in terms of lyrics, sound and tune partly due to Gore songwriting and sometimes singing talent...i would say BLACK CELEBRATION album pave the way for the bands maturity....so much so
that VIOLATOR gave them a worldwide success...the Mode 101 album realy reinforced the bands popularity not only in Europe, where techo and trance and music is appreciated, but also in US....there albuim SONGS OF FAITH AND DEVOTION is my favorite esp the song ONE CARESS sung by Martin Gore..this one song realy get my nerves and made me realized how Gore capability as songwriter extends to very aura of his singing......most of the 80's bands were of the same approach and instrument like DM, for exmaple THOMPSON TWINS--but theirs is more of of pop feel...then theres NEW ORDER an incarnation of the JOY DIVISION---now talk about pioneering techie sounds this band wouldnt disappoint you even there famous hit BIZZARE LOVE TRIANGLE was remade by some new upcoming bands...then theres DEVO whose sounds border betweem synthesizers funk and feel...and the last the godfather of them all KRAFTWERK----most or some havent heard this band but before all this techno bands started immerging , these band already had revolutionize and pioneer the sound of keyboards and synthesizers...event to this day the band still continues to create a unique blend and fashion of indurstrial sound fusing it with danceable beat.
