just got back from bantayan last sunday. we stayed there for 3 days.
thank u guys for ur comments ug now it's my time to share my bantayan experience..
grabe! d best! we stayed at Sugar Beach Resort. at first, i was apprehensive since i heard nga that the cottages & amenities in Sugar are not at par with the other resorts. we have however decided to push through with our reservation at Sugar & if ever we really wouldn't be comfortable with the place, we'd just transfer to Marlin's... but then when we got there (Sugar), the place was really beautiful & we found no need to transfer to another resort! u just gotta be watchful of falling coco palms & nuts though - i almost got hit by one! ehehe... majority of the cottages were too ordinary looking but then we got the most expensive one so it was okay.. actually 1500/day is already cheap right? they're also actually constructing new cottages & i hope those have aircons coz as of press time, they've only got A/C rooms for couples at 1500/day & despite having an extra fan in the room, it's still kinda hot for me. as to the staff, they're very warm & they cook good food ha! u actually don't have to go to the market to buy food & let them cook it for u, just tell them what u want to eat & they'll prepare it for u at the time u want! i guess most of u have heard about the "hilo-hilo" thing in santa fe but rest assured, at sugar, all those vendors allowed inside sell safe foods. they actually have this accreditation thing chu-chu. they also provide service tricy-jeep or whatever u calll it if u request for one - for a fee though! they have contacts man - part of the accreditation chu-chu again! ehehe... another good thing i've noticed is that they're very particular about cleanliness in the surroundings - now & then u see them sweeping or emptying trash cans. i just wish they'd clean up the seaweeds along the shores at low tide though! as to the beach, the best! we were able to stroll along the adjacent beaches & nothing really compares with the sand at Sugar. true to its name, it's really as fine as sugar! u could actually walk with barefoot even up to the cottages without having your feet hurt later on! the waters are very safe too since it's not the suddenly sloping type or what what you call in the dialect as "kimbahon". it's also very nice for skim boarding at low tide! ehehe... but i didn't dare swim at night though because it's really dark - i strongly suggest they put lights near the shore so that it's safer to swim at night. as for the island hopping tour, they offer pumpboat service at 1500 for the whole day & they take u to 2 islands - one being the famous virgin island. if u feel like videoke-ing, u can also rent from them. i wasn't able to ask how much it was basta naa xa! if u need extra mattresses, pillows, etc. they can provide u either for free or for a minimal fee - 150 for the extra bed. they also have hot & cold water dispenser if u request for one at 300/day. i've actually talked to the people managing the place & asked them y didn't the owners develop the resort since it's already beautiful as it is how much more if they'd improve their cottages & amenities & they said it's the will of the elder Escarios. the elder Escarios are known in the place as very makamasa & they would want their resort to be accessible to the masses. if they'd develop their resort, definitely, it would be the most expensive in the island given that it has the widest & most beautiful beach & sand - which would no longer make it accessible for the masses!
