well, then you pair it off with the affordable but good quality EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM. there's also a USM version and a newer EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM but they cost more.Originally Posted by Zerone_null

Good point. I could probably just pocket that lens in a small waist pouch or something.
Can I ask you guys what your personally use for literally walking around photography?
this is the line --------- cross it. i dare you
i'm still using my trusty kits lens, EF 18-55my copy is sharp
until my thrifty/nifty fifty arrives
, btw the EF 70-300 IS is a fine lens too, approaching L glass quality, its around 37k

Hehe yeah i got a pentax s55 i pocket all the time too. You'll never know, hehe.
I guess you're not the type who strolls around with a DSLR for a purse. I wouldn't really do that here too.

I have the 5d/24-105 combo as my walkaround kit. The size and weight of both is the maximum I could bear as walkaround. A couple of months ago I was in Orlando (Disney and Universal) and carried this setup everyday for a whole week without any issues. Prior to this I had the 20d/17-85 as a walkaround kit.Originally Posted by Zerone_null

actually I used the 18-55 kit lens. since I was right at the foot of the ramp I didn't need the telephoto... although I had it in a pouch strapped to my belt just in case. iso was 400 with shutter speeds of 40 to 60 @ 5.6 the video crew had a bunch of bright hot lights so I didn't need much actually. just small pop of diffused flash.Originally Posted by tolstoi
with the right lighting, the kit lens is really good, and with PP, who can tell the difference hehe
