The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it.

In response, he said, the policemen asked Villar and the Senate sergeant-at-arms: “Paano po kung tawagin kami ng Malacanang? Ano'ng sasabihin namin (What happens is Malacañang calls us? What should we tell them)?”
I have a feeling that this is a hoax! Why would the police say this statement?!?! Warrant of Arrest supposedly originate not in Malacanang...and I believe, they (police) are pretty aware of the lawmakers' immunity...Jinggoy probably had this "act" all set-up..he coordinated with the Pasay police (??!?!?) and knowing his hatred over the Arroyos esp. Mike.

He said the libel case stemmed from his interpellation during a budget hearing on January 23 in which he called the First Gentleman “the biggest smuggler in this country.”

While recalling the circumstances behind the charges, he again called Arroyo the “bagman” of his wife, the President, and vowed that the charges would not stop him from performing his duty and “continu(ing) with the crusade (against) the Godfather of all Smugglers in the Philippines.”
with this speech...he can get away with it..

“Clearly, they cannot arrest a senator while Congress is in session. Why then did elements of the Pasay City police come here to arrest me? Have they no respect for this venerable chamber and the Constitution?” Estrada asked.
just my theory...

Good thing he is a senator, otherwise there would be no prohibition from his arrest.

Indeed, the warrant of arrest was issued by the Regional Trial Court pursuant to finding of probable cause of the crime charged upon the accused. As per the rules of criminal procedure, a warrant of arrest should be issued within ten days from the time the information is filed before the court. The judge is just following the rules when he issued the warrant of arrest.

Why in the world would then these police officers asked such futile question when the order came from the court and not from Malacanang? They knew very well that the order came from the court.

Power tripping, I guess. Maybe the police officers thought they could arrest a senator as simple as that. They should have known first that the legislators have this immunity from arrest before they went to Senate.

Maybe to show that they have "more concerns" than passing the anti- terror bill?

This sounds dramatic.
