as stated above most LG775 mobos can accept conroe w/ a bios update.

with regards to BIOS update, if some people hope that their old 775 mobos will support Conroe by just updating their BIOS,
, sadly, Conroes require new VRM on the motherboard
will intel ever release a compatible Core 2 Duo with older motherboards? I read that somwhere relating to the Intel Bad Axe

Well i dont see any good point in using a fresh new Conroe with a old chipset class, the conroe is spexcially optimized on the nforce5 and 975x
