Radeon 1900XT is faster on most benches - the 48 pixel shaders really shows its strength
there is 1 major drawback though -- huge power consumption
x1900XT even exceeds the Geforce 7950GX2 on power consumption
its gets worse with the XTX version
7900 wins over power efficiency

minor drawbacks are:
- heat & noise
- linux support is immature
- not SLI / Crossfire is not as popular as SLI

yeah the power usage of the X1900XT is insanely large for just a videocard it can draw as much power as your entire system alone, Heat on the 7900GT series is very minimal compared to teh X1900XT, but those things doesnt matter to some consumers. I my self got a 7900GT personally.

the Radeon X1800XT (625/1.5 256mb) i guess would be the best bang for the buck for $199 at Newegg if you purchase in US
although its quite old, differs only by number of pixel shaders to the X1900XT, but still wicked fast

The X1800XT 512MB is a better choice since the difference of $30 or less is worth it.

by the way its an OEM, i dont see a 512mb OEM version of x1800xt, the non-OEM cost 339
