network lag caused by video streaming? or patch updates from games?

it's not a problem with the router hardware or your ISP connection.

if your online games are not lagging under normal conditions, then both ISP and router are ok.

if 1 pc patches or streams or downloads and you get network lag/other online games' latency increase, it's still not a hardware problem nor an ISP problem. its a router configuration problem. some routers allow you to limit bandwidth per PC/connection to it.

in your case, since you have a 1.5mbps connection, you could evenly divide it among your network components (27), or just assign 50kbps per pc and then leave the rest for overhead. or, as is your default config, it's basically, divide your total bandwidthe to the amount of those actually connecting outside. it can be done, though as for how to exactly configure it, you'd have to contact router manufacturer.

your problem is a common problem among 'net shops/cafes. unless you want to spend time/effort in configuring your router, then easiest solution will be to just monitor, physically those who are streaming/downloading. and when a pc patches, tell your customers about it.

@inflame : thanks for your insights, pero mao lagi ni ako router is simple raman. wala options somewhere sa iya configuration menu anything about limiting bandwidth for each computer or something... yes, i monitor all computers for video streamers and downloaders, pero naa panagsa makalusot, kay mag alt-tab raman ang uban, like downloading a YouTube video while playing DOTA

with 27 pcs, you must have switches after the router to your network. If your router can't limit the bandwidth of each workstation, you need to use a mananged switch to implement it, or a bandwidth manager.

Maski using 1GB routers,Lancard and cable dli na maka tabang nimo.
Thats a normal thing to happen when bandwidth is stressed on from the ISP since nag download man siya its the biggest packets that can pass on the network and thus those online games will really lag, Actually theres a way to reduce the problem ani ( which we have done and tested ) since your using business plans you get about 3~6 IP's depending on the plan. now what you do is divide those IP usage on on the entire network if your plan sa 3 IP's so its gonna be 9 computer per IP set atleast that way dli sagol kaayo ang network stress.. altho im no the one who configured it but our network specialist.
