Question: Do hardware adapters affect port performance

from what I've read, there's practically no image quality diffrence as both are digital...

Ahh ok. good to know, I think I'll get a DVI->HDMI connector to connect my HDTV to my CPU as for the sound, I think I'll just connect it directly to my Line-in port of my soundcard from my monitor.
