The Johannine text has an emphasis on us being already forgiven.

"Why do we need to confess our sins if they have already been forgiven (1 John 1:9)?"

Are you sure you are forgiven already? when was the last time you have sinned?

To say that we have not sinned is one thing, and to say that we are already forgiven is another thing. And being forgiven means that we are forgiven by Jesus Christ on the cross-past, present and future. But this doesn't mean, the Catholic Church would say, that we don't need to confess our sins anymore; as the passage pointed out, it makes one a liar.

for the forgiveness of sins of course... but karma still need to be paid

aha..indulgence, the act of letting someone buy your salvation.

Indulgence. I don't really buy this idea..the way others view it. When we give something, we give not because we want something in return but because there is something good in being generous.
