Cops carry M16 because its the government issue rifle . Even LAPD dont carry MP5 unless your SWAT my dear . Even if they want to switch to MP5 , do you know how much is the cost of it ?

I know the MI6 is government issue, my point is that it is unsuitable and also extremely common. Buying an M16 ain't difficult here and they are frequently used in crime! Cops in LA don't carry high-power rifles, they use handguns and shotguns, around airports and other areas of concern they do use MP5 as do the British police. Yes they are expensive, but as ever there are cheaper alternatives.

Actually , after the North Hollywood shootout , everythign changed . They up the notch from 9mm to 40 SW and 45 ACP on top of the shotgun and AR-15 in the trunk . Even LVMPD adapted it . That is beside the point , most criminals are attached to military when scenarios like thee occur . Robberies ,bBank robberies , kidnap for ransom etc . They do have an arsenal of high powered rifles and pistols .

True cheaper alternative are there but it will never be the MP5 , maybe one poster here refered the Mp5 as the KG9 . Wala pa man cguro nakopya sa Danao ang MP5 afaik .
