The communists are fighting an ideology that has been abandoned by the rest of the world.
They're not fighting for the people's rights anymore. They're just making money. (allegedly with the help of our dearly beloved AFP)

perhaps we can also consider circumstance why communism has generally been rejected by the rest of the world... ( and by the rest of the world you mean the richer minority or the poor majority? )

this is the whole point i'm trying to make, gareb. such arguments are non-existent, because the Communists have opted to use very general propaganda in place of academic discussion of the issues at hand.Originally Posted by gareb
if you go into their website, it is full of one sided propaganda celebrating their armed struggle, their martyrs, their heroes, their battles, and other such non-sense.
if you ask members of Akbayan or even NPA members, they give you more of the same standard dribble from their site and literature.
when you ask them about the specifics of their armed protracted struggle, they say they can't reveal the specifics. when you ask them why armed struggle is their only solution, they spout off general problems that exist around the world such as poverty, corruption, injustice, etc. etc.
when you ask these young impressionable students, if armed struggle is the only solution to our country's ills, they proudly say Yes.
but, when you ask them why again? they look at you with an empty stare.
(the same stare probably present among palestinian and al-qaeda suicide bombers, who readily give their lives for a very ill defined cause)

anakbayan people may be leftist / left leaning, but they are not communists by the primary definitions laid by marx. and you should talk more to them. people have their reservations especially embattled ones. i hope u can, in a new light, understand their hesitation.
so what is it tha you have heard about 'communism' and the 'armed struggle' that is too unconvincing? and from who did you hear these supposed arguments? and what did their enemies ( the state ) say in reaction to this?

WHY IS ARMED STRUGGLE THE ONLY SOLUTION?
that's my only issue.
and this is why i'm against the Communist movement.
if you can give me an intelligent reason as to why, then i will greatly appreciate it.
until then, i am against the Communist movement of the Philippines.
("we have propaganda, but we can't tell you any specifics, so just swallow our propaganda, and support our armed rebellion, because according to our propaganda it is the only solution"--this is circular)
hmm... thats not the way i hear it from some acquaintances of mine that are of the same lot.Originally Posted by free_thinker

if you possess--or know of others who do--these sound arguments and facts to justify armed struggle as the only solution to our nation's ills, please share them.Originally Posted by gareb
so, we may continue this discussion.
why is armed rebellion the only solution? (it's a very simple question)
The whole majority!!!Originally Posted by gareb
Communism is an ideology too fantastic, too Utopian in concept.... that's why it never works. "It's not yours honey, it's ours...." hahaha! Man is always bound to be greedy and corrupt.
What happened to the Communist countries?
USSR? They crumbled from within.
China? They're not even pure communists!!! They're a hybrid.
Cuba? They're a dying country...
Laos? Same with China...
Vietnam? Same with China
North Korea? Hahahaa! They're communist alright.....
