Why dont you guys worry today and whats gonna be like 5 -10 years later instead of predicting whats gonna be like 100 years later ??

That's shortsighted. Things you do in 5-10 years time can (if practiced by a good number of people, look up "emergence" Emergence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) and may affect things in the long-term. That's just like saying "Don't worry about cutting down trees in our local forest, because it's only the people 50 years from now who will suffer, not us."

And there's the point right there-the issue is not about worrying, the issue is about whether people are willing to discuss the issues that could lead to the Philippines being non-existent in a hundred years or so.

I know what you are trying to point out but currently , in todays situation , it is something what we call [b]BETTER THINGS TO DO [b] . Your scenario about trees dont attract any bees at all if you get my drift . If I mislead people also , what I meant 5 to 10 years from now is what we should focus on so that 100 years later , it is something the 3 generations down will be proud of because we provided it for them .

I am only emphasizing the violent reactions relayed here based from the article sourced out .

And there's the point right there-the issue is not about worrying, the issue is about whether people are willing to discuss the issues that could lead to the Philippines being non-existent in a hundred years or so.

Exactly ! But all I see , are VIOLENT REACTIONS and these very people cant even decide for themsleves 5 to 10 years later , much more forecast whats in them 100 years later .

the pessimistic approach of the author is mind-boggling and literally unbelievable but IT IS actually scary. viewing our country in a what-would-happen-after-100-years perspective isn't at all bad; it is based on a "what if" or "might be" pov which are main factors of economic prediction in the first place.

remember when the US recession started? economists predict it would take longer for the US economy to recover. but as what we see now, it was sooner than expected. the economy is starting to bounce; thanks for "cash for clunkers". that is beside the point.

maybe MANUEL QUEZON was wrong afterall.

Give them the benefit of the doubt. Some of the responses are actually quite meaningful and logical. Sometimes there's a diamond among the lumps of coal.
