The new Jasper doesn't bear any striking marks

If you plan on buying a new Xbox 360 gaming system, you should Google around a bit. If you do, you'll probably become familiar with the name “Jasper”. Jasper is the code name for the last hardware revision of the mighty Microsoft gaming console. So you might want to make sure you get a hold of a Jasper when going out to hunt for a new Xbox 360.
Now, the default question arises: “How can I find out whether a specific console is a Jasper model?”. Well, right now, the best way to improve your chances of getting a Jasper is to go for an Arcade model. This seems to be the richest Jasper series yet. Some buyers have also spoken of Jasper Pro's, but proof is a bit shaky. And as far as Elites go, nobody has spotted any Jaspers so far.
The thing is not every Arcade is a Jasper, some of them are Falcons. With some bad luck you might even pull out a re-used Zephyr board from the stock. So here is what you should look for in an Arcade model if you want to get a Jasper. Start on the outside of the box and look for a sticker with the lot number and team information. If you see a lot number of 0842X or above, chances are that it might be a Jasper. Team information isn't important this time. The lot number 0842X means the system was manufactured in year 08, week 42, of the respective year.
Another criteria is to look below the top left bar code. If there's a string matching “XGX-00019”, you can add another few percentage points to the likely hood of founding a Jasper. Now look below the second bar code and see if the first line matches “XBOX 360 ARCADE SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 E”. If this adds up to the above criteria, you can be pretty sure that the thing is a Jasper.
If you want to go the extra mile, you can try and have a look through the little side window which is used to scan the bar code on the 360. You're looking for the 12V rating which is left to the bar code. You need push the Xbox a bit to the right (and maybe even down) so you can get a glimpse at the rating. If it says 12.1A, then you're set, it is a Jasper model.
Of course there are other ways to tell if the model you've just bought is a Jasper. You can look at the power connector when you unpack the console. If you can see two flat bars on top of the metal 6 metal connectors, then you have a Jasper. If there's only one long bar, then you either have a Falcon, or, God forbid, a refurbished Zephyr board.
We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
For Example my XBOX 360 ARCADE has XGX-00045 so this is Jasper
Then Lot No. 0912X. 0842X above is Jasper. So it fits the criteria. Thats the 2008 Manufacturing date code.
